My approach to growth

Improve performance today.
Build for what comes next.

I start by understanding the customer’s business: who they serve, what sells, and where they want to grow. That helps us recommend the right products, build worthwhile programs, and coordinate the support needed to make them work.

Near term · Diagnose & execute

Find the gaps. Focus the effort.

  • Understand the business. Review sell-through, margin, inventory, and feedback from buyers and field teams. Understanding why a product is underperforming helps us recommend a useful solution instead of another promotion.
  • Prioritize the opportunities. Look for ways to improve the existing business before adding more products. Focus on assortment gaps, reorders, and programs that give the customer a credible opportunity to increase sales.
  • Make the economics work. Evaluate pricing and promotions against customer margin, consumer value, and partner economics. The aim is to generate additional profitable sales, rather than discount purchases that would happen anyway.
  • Put a plan behind the sale. Confirm inventory and field support before committing to a program. Set clear responsibilities and timing so customers know what to expect, then review results together and adjust.

Measures: Customer sell-through and margin, reorders, product availability, promotional return, forecast accuracy, and company profitability.

Long term · Prioritize & build

Invest where growth can last.

  • Choose where to compete. Match products and investment to consumer demand, the customer’s assortment, and the economics of the channel. Focus resources where we can provide useful support and build repeat business.
  • Build customer plans. Build plans around the customer’s category goals, audience, and operating calendar. Review assortment, programming, and new products together so brand growth also supports their business priorities.
  • Expand with discipline. Check distributor coverage, inventory needs, and team capacity before expanding. Start with a plan we can support, learn from customer results, and grow what earns repeat purchases.
  • Develop the organization. Develop forecasting, clear responsibilities, and capable teams so customers receive consistent support as the business grows. Better planning helps reduce stock gaps and last-minute surprises.

Measures: Repeat purchases, sustained sell-through, customer retention, reliable availability, profit contribution, and team development.

How I weigh a growth opportunity

Does it meet a customer or consumer need? Will it help the customer earn repeat business at a healthy margin? Can we deliver the inventory and support we promise? Is it the best use of our shared resources? Agreeing on what success looks like helps both sides decide whether to expand, adjust, or stop.
